Court of Illusion Sneak Peek
Three books into the series, and I really hit the wall with this one. I don't think of myself as a particularly action-oriented writer. I like to explore my characters' psyches, delve into their thoughts, so a book all about psychology and court intrigue should have been easy for me, right?
Keeping track of all the balls Amir was juggling, as well as the complex machinations going on, was kind of a nightmare. Though I was happy with the end result, writing was a slow and often frustrating process on this book.
Yet this book is important for two big reasons: it provides a window into the nobility, and it shines light on the Seventh Sisters, who up to this point have been secretive and mysterious. Plus, I love Eraly, and I had so much fun writing her. In real life, it would drive me crazy to deal with someone like her, but I thoroughly enjoyed my page time with her.
