Infiltrator, Contributor #2 sneak peek
Full disclosure: I put off writing the second Contributor book for a long time because I was terrified I'd mess it up. I knew where the story should go, but I was deathly afraid of writing a second installment that would feel like so much filler. I didn't want to do that to Dara's story, and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to pull off what I was hoping to achieve with the trilogy.
When I finally forced myself to sit down and start writing, though, the story just flowed. Over the course of the three books, Dara grows up and changes a lot, and this book is symbolic of the big strides she makes as she moves toward that change. Her focus turns from worrying about her own achievements and status to worrying about something bigger than herself.
What I enjoyed most of all about writing this book, though, was the chance to take some of the characters who played a small role in the first book and develop them. Best of all was establishing the relationship between Dara and Letizia and getting to show more of Letizia's shades.
What didn't I like so much? Well, in the interest of not planting a bit, fat spoiler here, let's just say I had to make some difficult decisions.
