Instigator, Contributor #3 sneak peek
As any author will tell you, writing the end to a series is hard. I had come to know and love these characters, and it was difficult to say goodbye to them. However, I also felt their stories had drawn to a close, which made saying goodbye nominally easier.
Of the three books, this is my favorite, not just because it's the last, but also because I got to spend so much more time with a character who was only meant to play a minor role when I wrote the first book, but who quickly became one of my favorites: Javier. Originally I had intended to have him fade away after Contributor, but he was one of those characters who spoke to me, and I realized he still had a role to play in the story.
I was also very happy to devote more page time to Raj, something I'd been impatiently waiting to do since I finished book one. One chapter in particular was such a long time in coming that I was thrilled when I was finally able to sit down and write it. No joke, when I was finished, I wrote myself a little note about how long I'd been dying to write that scene, a note that still sits in the manuscript today.
